PFA
A very warm welcome to the Reigate Grammar School Parents’ and Friends’ Association – all parents belong to the PFA while they have children at the school.
The Association exists to enhance the school community and to support student enrichment through a wide range of social activities and fundraising.
We have an active committee of parent and teacher representatives who meet regularly and work closely with the school to ensure that we provide help and support to the school in the most effective way possible.
Apart from holding events which enable parents to socialise with each other, the Association, through its fundraising activities, generates an income each year, all of which is available to provide extra equipment or activities for the students, over and above that which the school would be expected to provide. In the last few years, the PFA has paid for many different items as requested by both the school and parents, including the purchase of mobile floodlights for sport and equipment for the fitness suite. We have also been able to support many different aspects of school life, including buying equipment for DofE expeditions and CCF activities, the weather station, a thermal camera for the Science department, funding for a range of instruments for the Music department, as well as a number of benches around the school. We are incredibly proud to have been able to provide the funding for a tea pavilion at the RGS Hartswood Sports Ground as well as outdoor classrooms for all students to use. We have entered into a two-year relationship with the Learning Support Department in which our aim is to provide equipment and resources to help those students who for whatever reason struggle sometimes with day-to-day school life.
Apart from fundraising we support many school events including drama, music and parents’ evenings by helping to serve refreshments at interval times. We also have a refreshment tent at Sports Day every year. All of these are run by our volunteers who willingly give up their time to support both the PFA and the school. It is also of course a great chance to meet other parents!
These pages contain information about our activities and our fundraising events as well as giving you an idea of who we are and what we do. Having said all of that we are always looking for new volunteers whether it be to help out at one of our events or to join the main committee. If you are interested in helping us in any way, or for more information, please contact us: pfa@reigategrammar.org
