World Class success for Reigate Grammar School students
RGS is delighted by its students’ community, charity, social mobility, partnership and environmental activities which have received recognition through being nominated and shortlisted for national awards during the year. Headmaster Mr Shaun Fenton said,
“Reigatians will always be defined more by their personal values than their grades: they have great fun with friends and a wide range of school experiences which prepare them to make the world a better place, as happy and successful adults.”
97% of RGS students secured places at world-class universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton, Berkeley and Russell Group universities or medical schools. The most popular universities this year are Bristol, Nottingham, Oxford, Cambridge and medical school with the most popular courses being Engineering, Science, Law and Medicine.
RGS was named School of the Year in the school Oscars for 2020-2021 and, in a year of record results nationally, Reigatians were not left behind. RGS has been the highest attaining co-ed day school in Surrey for five years and this year saw continued record-breaking success for students. Nine out of every 10 A Level grades awarded were at grade A or better after exam board scrutiny and moderation of judgements and evidence. Mr Fenton added,
“These outstanding results are a lovely bonus and have opened up life-changing opportunities at world-class universities in the UK and around the world. I am delighted for the students, staff and families who worked so hard in such difficult times, including offering every lesson live via video conferencing during lockdown. Our school motto runs true: Happy Kids, Great Results. I am so chuffed for these super young adults,”
Mr Fenton continued:
“The worst of times has brought out the best of people and I am proud of the way all Reigatians have given back to society with volunteering, charity and partnership work over the last 18 months. They have been role models for the rest of us!”
