Athletics: Four County Champions and ESAA National Finalists
Following the District Athletics competiton a few weeks ago, twenty two Reigate Grammar School athletes were selected to compete for South Surrey at the County Championships at the Kingsmeadow track in Kingston last weekend. It was a fantastic day for RGS athletes with four girls finishing the day as County Champions. Many of our athletes also achieved personal bests and thirteen athletes were placed in the top eight in Surrey.
Lucy Broderick became Surrey Champion in the Junior Girls 800m
Katie Mackison became Surrey Champion in the Junior Girls Javelin
Hannah Griffin became Surrey Champion in the Inter Girls Triple Jump
Niamh Brown became Surrey Champion in the Senior Girls 1500m
Lily Grant was bronze medallist in the junior Girls Hurdles.
The four county champions along with Lily Grant and Freya Taylor will represent Surrey; the former in an inter counties competition this weekend and Lily and Freya in a separate multi events competition. In addition Katie Mackison and Niamh Brown have been selected to represent Surrey in the prestigious English Schools competition to be held in Birmingham in July.
Even more recently, the inter-girls ESAA track and field cup team competed in the regional round, they won with a massive points score of 416 which means they now go to the nationals on 1 July, placing RGS in the top 12 schools in the country.
Congratulations to them all.
