RGS Awarded Best Play at Leatherhead Drama Festival

Late on Monday night, following the final performances of the heats, RGS Drama’s entry ‘The Darwin Awards’ was named Best Play at the 2017 Leatherhead Drama Festival. The field included eighteen separate entries from colleges, drama groups and theatre schools across Surrey. The play, devised and written by Fifth Form Drama students Sam Archer, Dan Grant, Alex Moroni and Louis Vasili, examines the fatal nature of male machismo through the real life stories from The Darwin Awards. RGS Drama also won Best Play in 2015, as well as awards for Best New Writing and Best Actress at last year’s festival.

The awards ceremony, featuring a performance of the piece, is this Saturday 13 May at The Theatre, Leatherhead. The play is also nominated for Best New Writing. Tickets can be booked at theleatherheadtheatre.org
