Remembrance Day 2024

Today, our school community gathered on the playground for a moment of unity, much like generations of students before us. The ceremony was a poignant reminder of the importance of Remembrance Day and the values it honours.

Reverend Phil Jackson led the service and we welcomed former pupils, current and past Governors, RGS Foundation Ambassadors and our guest speaker, former pupil Stephen Vinall (RGS 1983–1988). It was a special occasion, as we reflected on the courage and sacrifice of those who fought to defend the values we hold dear — democracy, the rule of law, tolerance, mutual respect and individual liberty.

As we paid tribute to their memory, we were reminded of our shared responsibility to uphold these values in our daily lives. In a world that continues to evolve, it is important that we never forget the lessons of history and the sacrifices made to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today.

Let us carry these principles with us, ensuring that their legacy lives on through our actions and words, not just today, but every day.
