Aisha and Aqsa K achieve 2nd Dan Black Belts in Taekwondo
Congratulations to Aisha and Aqsa K who have both been awarded with their 2nd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo. They undertook an arduous and intense examination which involved
- the display of complex patterns which they have memorised over years of consistent training,
- a display of fighting wearing body armour similar to what is seen in the olympics,
- a demonstration of many self defence techniques against grabs, punches and kicks.
All of this was done in a sealed off room (no parents or spectators allowed) in front of a panel of judges in an extremely formal environment. Gradings are carried out under the auspices of the World Taekwondo Federation and the rules are strict. They have reached a level now where they are not even allowed to grade again for another two years of consistent training during which they will be expected help teach others as well as set a good example for them.
